I can’t clearly understand your question, because I’m a beginner in WP theme design. Can you be more descriptive about that custom page for archives and I’ll try to do my best to implement it.

I was speaking thinking at the wordpress 2.0 standard template.
If you take a look under \themes\default you can find the file archives.php.
If you create a page from wordpress using this template, you can realize a page that contains your archives without fill the sidebar.

OK i try to explain it better. (i’m italian and my english is poor..)

If you take a look at the wordpress 2 standard theme located at \wp-content\themes\default you find a file with name archives.php. This file is the archives template. If you wanna create a page you can choose it as a archive template.
I tried to use it with kubrick and the “output” is a page without posts and only your monthly archives. I was speaking about it.

I found your idea with the vertical menu really cool. Maybe you have met big difficulties, modifying the theme, because the CSS inside is a real mess. I’ll try to find time these days to improve a little bit the design and the CSS file itself …

Having difficulty displaying yours in IE based browsers. All OK in Firefox though.

I can correct this directly into Bills’ “header.php” and “style.css” files. But if it’s not possible to have these two files, I’ll update soon the theme with few improvements and a horizontal menu example commented in the “header.php”. I hope that will help.

Wow. You say this is your first go at WP theme development? Let me just say that you are a truly amazing developer thus far and I can only dream of where you’ll find yourself if you continue this way.

This is probably one of the most beautiful themes I have seen to date. Not only is it pleasing to the eye, but places tremendous emphasis on the content as well.
