Another theme update

A have updated again the Rusty theme(in fact the only WP theme I created so far). I feel that it’s very unprofessional to release updates so frequently, but I always find things that makes me jump out of my skin.

Here is a short description of what is changed/added:

  • The font for the search box and comments form is bigger and readable.
  • The child categories and pages are well arranged with an additional image. The categories are now displayed in hierarchical list.
  • The blockquotes in the posts are displayed in a different, good-looking(in my opinion) manner.
  • The unordered lists in the posts has new bullet image(I found the old one too bright).
  • There is archives.php page thanks to Matteo who helps me realize where it’s used.
  • In the header.php file there is a commented example of horizontal menu for people who wants to have such.
  • The protected posts form is stylized.

That’s it for now. I’ll upload soon the header image of the theme in PSD format to make easier the customization. If you want to donwload the theme, here is a link.

Excuse my English!

Great work again! It also seemed to fix a bug I had been running into, where posts with images would display incorrectly in Opera and IE.

just one question, when i place an image with a link, the border of the image is blue, is there anyway in general to get rid of the blue border. currently when i upload an image i will set border=0 but there must be a way to do that in general

I love the theme, the coloring scheme is perfect for a logo I created some time ago for my website. I’m not sure what I’ve done, but all of a sudden the left hand side margin doesn’t reach all the way down to the bottom of the page.

Just in case it was something I did when I was editing your files, I replaced them will the original set, but I still have the same problem.

You can see the problem at http://www.brewtherapy.com/

Do you have any ideas?

Cheers, Mark.

Hi, munak,

I’m sorry for that problem. I missed to put the needed line in the style.css file. I’ll do it as soon as possible, but if you can’t wait, you can do it on yourself. Just add at the end of the “style.css” file the following line - img {border:none;}. That should correct the problem.

Hi, Mark,

I saw the site and I think that the problem is in the post named “Brewing stand gets its first burner!”. You have an empty div tag before the text: “Well its now eight months later and although the stand isn’t yet finished, it getting closer to looking …”. Just remove it and tell me if everything is OK.

No need to thank me. It’s my fault. So thank you.

Between the header image is ready for download. It’s archived in rar format. I hope this is no problem. You can find it here.

Thanks Martin, I had to cut and paste the text back into the post, but it solved the problem.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers, Mark.

Any plans to write a gallery2/wpg2/wordpress theme like this one?

I’m going to have a stab at altering a gallery2 theme to look a bit like this one, but I’m not very good at this type of thing ;-)

Excellent work!

Mark.

Hi, Mark,

I’m highly interested in writing such a theme, but I need to gather some information about this plugin. I promise that I’ll give it a try, after finishing the next release of the theme.

Thanks, Gordon. There is a new version of the template and there will be a newer soon. If you want you can donwload it, because it improves the css styling.

What would make this theme perfect is an edit button on each entry so you could easily go into an entry and edit it…

I’ll find a place for edit button in the next release. Thanks for the advice, Rob.

Hi,
a stunning Theme, but would it be possible for you to make it a tick bigger to fit and fill a 1024×768 screen?

Thanks and cheers

Tom

Also, Martin, speaking of that edit button, it’s great to have an edit button on posts (so you can quickly jump in and tweak them), and it’s also great to have an edit button on comments (people often put a small ‘e’ on them), so they can be updated on the fly, too…

I too would like a larger horizontal display.

I have tried amending various css entries to no avail - the display becomes very corrupted.

Any help MArtin ?

Edit Button. There is a WordPress plugin called “Edit n Place” which provides a button or a text link and can be put on the template’s index.php and/or page.php - it can be found at http://www.headzoo.com/downloads/.

Larger format. I too would like a larger width as I normally use a screen resolution on 1280 x 1024. I have tried to amend values in the css file, but all I seem to do is to corrupt the display.

It would be cool to support the Wordpress Widgets also! I realized that they are awesome with the functionality and of course no more need to edit your sidebar.php.
