Rusty v1.04

The Rusty WordPress theme raised up again its version this month, thanks to its brand new widget support. This new feature is working thanks to Stargazer. He is the one who reveals the secret for me. Thanks a lot Stargazer.

I changed again the calendar style, this time just to make some of the colors more contrast. That’s it. Click here to see a preview of the theme or to download it.

Rusty v1.03 is out

In fact in this update there are only few, unsignificant at first glance, but very useful changes:

  • The author name now appears in the bottom left corner like a link that points to the author url.
  • For the admin users there is a suitable link that allows them to edit the posts and comments(if they are logged-in of course). The link is situated in the right top corner of the posts and comments.
  • Images inside links doesn’t has border around them.
  • I changed the calendar style to follow strictly the sidebars’ links look and feel.

You can download the update from here. The changes are maded with the accurate help of Вилиан, Rob Irwin and munak. Thank you people.

Currently I’m working on issue that will allow a particular user to stretch the template to his taste. But this will take some time …

Another theme update

A have updated again the Rusty theme(in fact the only WP theme I created so far). I feel that it’s very unprofessional to release updates so frequently, but I always find things that makes me jump out of my skin.

Here is a short description of what is changed/added:

  • The font for the search box and comments form is bigger and readable.
  • The child categories and pages are well arranged with an additional image. The categories are now displayed in hierarchical list.
  • The blockquotes in the posts are displayed in a different, good-looking(in my opinion) manner.
  • The unordered lists in the posts has new bullet image(I found the old one too bright).
  • There is archives.php page thanks to Matteo who helps me realize where it’s used.
  • In the header.php file there is a commented example of horizontal menu for people who wants to have such.
  • The protected posts form is stylized.

My first update of my first WordPress Theme

calendar.jpgHere is the first update of “Rusty”. It’s not a big deal, but it fix some eye-annoying things like the calendar representation and some odd looking list items in the sidebar which gets smaller and smaller when they are put one into another … But this ugly stuff is already in the past. I want to thank Jonathan Dewar for the feedback. Thank you Jonathan. Also many thanks to the people whose comments helping me improve my work. Thank you people.

If you find this so-called WordPress theme attractive you can download it from here. I’ll be grateful if you draw my attention to things that I’m missing or getting wrong.

Please, excuse my English. It’s not in a good shape.

My first WordPress theme

screenshot.pngFinally I finished work on the very first WordPress theme of mine… Well I finished the first version. It’s designed for version 2.0+ of WP and I named it “Rusty”, but don’t know why :).

I started development using the default theme created by this talented, well known guy - Michael Heilemann … and I finished it in this way, removing some of the pages that I haven’t succeed to realize where the f**k they are used: 404.php, archives.php, attachment.php, comments-popup.php, links.php. Maybe someone that reads the post can help me with that issue. I’ll appreciate that. (more…)
